Ordinary-player baseline

A measurement means nothing without a sense of normal. The baseline is how Overshoot knows what ordinary Premier play looks like.

Compared with ordinary players, where does this kill sit?

What it is

The baseline is a reference built kill by kill from real Premier demos. It records how each measurement is spread across ordinary play, separately for rifles, snipers, SMGs and pistols, and notes the game's patch era. A kill is then described as higher or lower than a share of ordinary kills.

Why it comes from real matches

Overshoot's earlier reference came from a public research dataset. Testing it against real Premier demos showed ordinary play there looks different, so those constants cannot be used as a clean-versus-cheating scale on Premier matches. The baseline is built from Premier play instead.

What it does not claim

It is a reference for ordinary play, not a list of honest players. It is modest in size today and will be rebuilt as more demos are added. Higher-rated lobbies may look different from the demos it was built on.

What Overshoot does not publish

The exact reference values stay private. Anyone tuning to stay under a known line could use them.

Keep in mind

What this cannot tell you

  • It describes ordinary Premier play, not every mode or rating.
  • It is rebuilt as the collection grows, so numbers move.
  • It needs checking for false alarms before it is shown as a rule.
